project update

Spring in Hawkes Bay this year has been the complete opposite of 2008 with 329mm of rain received in the three months from August to October compared to 88mm for the corresponding period last year.  This is very good news for our new plantings which are growing well and looking very healthy.

The challenge now is to keep and weeds and grass free from the plants which has been made much easier by a use of weed mat around all of the trees.  However there has been so much grass growth because of the rain that some weed release spraying is required and this will be carried out in November.

Planning is now underway for year 3 of the project, with planting of the rest of the trees over the winter months of 2010.
